I am on STI-571( GLIVEC) for 3 months and my 3 months result shows 2% of Ph+ from 85% before, Thank you for all support

Dear All,

My name is Jirapon Chaimonkon (PON) ,Male , Age 25. I was born in CHIANGMAI, the north of Thailand in 1975. I studied at a local school in my hometown util years 12.

After that in 1994, I was awarded a scholarship from the Australian government to study the Bachelor degree of Computer Science, majoring in Statistics, University Of New England, New South Wales, Australia for 4 years.

When I was in Australia, I never have any problem with my health at all. After return home ( Thailand ) in 1997, I got the job in Bangkok (The capital of Thailand) as the Programmer & Database Admin . My life at that time just like many people, work hard and was responsible for many things ...that was a happy time for me.

But life is not always as smooth as silk ; I started to have a disease with brushing, easy bleeding.

I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) on 24th October 1999. It is a fatal disease. There is no curent medicine that can cure CML.

The only way that possible to cure CML is the Bone Marrow Transplant which can be transplanted from biological brother or sisters.

Because I am the only child of the family, so the Transplant is not avalable for me.I try hard to find the information from the Internet about this disease and this is what I found !!.

The new drug called ( " STI - 571 ") which under the Phase III testing. From the Internet source, many people can have their life back after few months of STI - 571. Unfortunately, Thailand is quite far from U.S.A and the trial of this drug is only in the big countries, I don't know that it will be possible to have the trial center in Thailand or not.

I have try to contract the researcher of the drug and try to push them to have the Trial Center in Asia.

Now, they are 2 site close to Thailand.... Australia and Singapore. From here , everything should be much better than before because at least I have a hope.

I contracted the doctor in Singapore once again, and he could give me the estimated cost.

The drug company will only pay for the drug not include the hospitalisation .

Now, I'm facing a financial problem if I have to go to Australia or Singapore because for Thai baht is very weak and U.S dollar is very strong , and I do not have that much.

The main reason for this mail is to establish the FUND to help me to cover all the expenses for my disease because in Thailand the insurance is still far behind compare to others. (This money will be very helpful for me when I have to go for the trial of STI 571 ).
